Free · Seven days in Philippians 3

Forget.Reach.Press on.

Seven days for the believer who has not arrived, and has stopped pretending otherwise.

“Hanging over the life of every child of God is an inscription written in bold letters: under construction.” Dr. Neely opens Philippians 3, where Paul stands up in the middle of his own letter and admits he has not arrived. Then Paul says what to do about it: forget, reach, press on.

Press On is for anyone who is still growing and would rather admit it than perform.

It is not a program for the polished, and it is not seven steps. It begins with a confession: “Lord, I have not arrived.” From there it moves into the grace that has already taken hold of you.

Each day is short: one passage to read in your own Bible, one pastoral word from Dr. Neely, one question, and one thing to do. Each day ends in prayer. Four of the seven days ask you to write something down, because something happens inside you when a decision leaves your head and lands in your handwriting.

Dr. Neely teaches from the text, and he does not hide behind it. He writes about complacency that settles in quietly, about a past that still hurts, and about the night he told God he was quitting. He also shares what happened when he asked his friends to pray.

“I have nothing to offer you in and of myself. If any work of eternal significance happens in you over these seven days, it will be because of the work and ministry of the Spirit of God.”
